How ChalIt handles your data — in plain words.
Effective date: September 4, 2026
Who we are
ChalIt is a mobile application (the “app”) that helps you create, follow and track personal challenges, optionally together with other people. This policy explains what data the app processes, why, and what your options are. If anything here is unclear, write to us at support@chalit.app.
Do I need an account?
No. You can use ChalIt without any account. In that case your challenges and progress are stored only on your device and we do not receive your personal data. If you later sign in, the data already on your device is linked to your account so you can back it up and sync it across devices.
What we process
Account information
- Anonymous sign-in: Firebase Authentication creates a random user identifier. No name, email address or phone number is involved.
- Google Sign-In (optional): your Google display name, email address and profile picture URL — used to identify your account and sync your data.
Your challenge data
- Challenge details: title, short goal, description, schedule, start date, time zone and reminder times.
- Progress: completions, rest days, streaks and the statistics computed from them.
- Card design: the shape, color and icon you pick for a challenge.
- Circles you create or join: circle name, invite code and membership.
Your challenge data is private. Database access rules restrict every record to your own account — other users, including circle members, only see what you explicitly share with them.
Device & notification data
To deliver reminder notifications, we store a push-notification token for each device where the app is installed, together with an installation identifier. You can turn reminders off per challenge at any time.
Analytics & diagnostics
We use Firebase Analytics to understand aggregate product usage — for example, that “a challenge was created”. These events carry event names only: they never contain challenge titles, goals, notes, email addresses or anything else you type. Firebase also collects standard app-instance data (such as app version, device model and OS version) as described in Google's documentation. Crash reports are collected via Firebase Crashlytics in release builds only.
What we never do
- We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers.
- We don't show ads.
- The public space shows anonymized progress — your identity is not attached to what you share there.
Where your data lives
Data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure (Firebase Authentication and Firestore) and is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is restricted by database security rules that tie each record to its owner.
Retention & deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your account profile, challenges, progress, statistics and circle memberships. See the Delete Account page to request deletion. If you use ChalIt without an account, uninstalling the app removes the data stored on your device.
Children's privacy
ChalIt is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will announce them in the app and update the effective date above.
